Scott + Patricia . Long Distance Love

It’s not every day that I get a phone call from a man wanting to book a portrait session for him and his wife. It’s definitely not every day that I get a phone call from a man in Afghanistan wanting to book a portrait session for him and his wife when he returns home on leave. Scott somehow managed to plan an entire trip, photo session and all, from a battlefield. Scott’s a pretty special man, so is his wonderful wife, Patricia. I’ve never seen a man so in love with his wife before. Patricia is very obviously the object of his affection, where his heart is, and what drives him to survive the Gulf War every day that he’s there. Patricia very obviously feels the same way about him.

Never have I had a session where I wanted, so badly, to truly capture the emotion between a couple – knowing that 10 days from that session they will be apart again for many, many months.

I absolutely adore this couple. I loved hearing their stories – how they met, how they make it, who they are, how they feel. They’re an amazing couple, one I will definitely never forget and hope to see again soon. I hope they’ll become lifelong friends – they definitely made an impression on me.

Thank you both, for spending some of your precious few hours together with me and allowing me to document a little portion of your love story. Thank you for the sacrifices you both make, every day, so that the world can be a safer place. Thank you for the friendship, the conversation, the amazing bottle of wine, and the memories you’ve given me of two wonderful people, wonderfully in love.

Be safe, come back to visit soon.

I just love these pictures. The best I have ever seen. This is my son and daughter-n-law. I didn’t get to see him when he came home but I will be waiting on him when he makes that final trip home.
I love you my son. Mama
