Sneak Peek- Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation House – Atlanta Wedding Photographers – Kristen & Jason

I didn’t meet Kristen & Jason until their engagement session at Berry College in Rome, GA. I didn’t have a clue what they looked like, what their relationship was like, I didn’t really know anything about them other than that Kristen works for the Atlanta Falcons. I won’t lie, my first thought when I found that out was, “Hmm, I wonder if she can get me a job to shoot ONE game from the sidelines…” because that’s on my bucket list. Alas, I would never ask, hah!

I so enjoyed spending time with them and learning about their relationship at their engagement session, I feel it’s so important for me to get to know my clients and understand who they are, how they are together, and to really get a feel for what’s most important to them.

Kristen & Jason have a fun, playful relationship on the surface but, after spending time with them, you can see the deep love and admiration they have for each other. After just a few seconds of watching Kristen and her Dad together you could see the bond, the love and respect. I love learning about people and their relationships with the people around them, I think that by studying their relationships you can truly capture moments that are important to them.

Kristen & Jason had a stunningly gorgeous wedding at the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation House in Atlanta, Georgia. Every last detail was gorgeously planned and executed and the wedding was filled with joy, love, and fantastically fun moments. They had a gorgeous ceremony in the outdoor courtyard followed by an intimate reception in the ballroom. During their first dance they surprised guests by switching to a choreographed dance with their amazing dance instructors. A bouquet toss from the balcony and a sparkler exit in to an antique truck that once belonged to Kristen’s great-grandfather wrapped up the spectacular evening.

Are you unhappy with your wedding photographs? Win a FREE After-Session from us!

There are moments in life that you can’t get back, things that can’t really be redone, fixed, corrected… You can never get back those first few weeks with a newborn, forgetting to snap a photo on the first day of school (been there, done that), and you can never get back your wedding day. I’ve heard so many terrible stories, stories that made ME cry for people even… Stories of people who had terrible wedding photos and even stories of people never getting their photos at all. The best we can do at that point is an After-Session. We photograph dozens of them every year – for people who had terrible wedding photography, for people who simply wanted more photos, for people who had bad weather on their wedding day, and for people who wanted photos at a different location that just weren’t feasible to take on their wedding day.

It breaks my heart when people get bad wedding photos. So, here’s what I’m going to do. I am offering one couple the chance to have a free after-session. Completely on us. We’ll even cover the $250-300 photography fee that the locations charge.

How to enter:

Email your horrible wedding photo story to melodyhood@gmail.com along with photos from your wedding day.

We will post your story on our Facebook page, have your friends and family like our page and vote for your story.

The story with the most votes will win a complimentary After-Session at your choice of two locations – Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville, GA (about an hour away from Chattanooga, TN and about 30 minutes from Atlanta) or The Swan House in Atlanta, GA. These are two of the most gorgeous locations in the Southeast.

Every single person that enters will qualify for a discounted after-session from Innamorata Photography because we want you to have incredible photos to remember your love story with.

***PLEASE NOTE*** We will NOT post or publish your wedding photos, only your story and we will not publish the name of your photographer. Our goal is to get you some incredible photos, not to “out” or humiliate anyone. The photos are for our eyes only just to verify that you did, in fact, have bad wedding photos. It doesn’t matter if you were married last month or five years ago – there is no time limit. All you have to provide is your wedding attire.

Entries must be received by April 24th (my birthday!).

Contest will be decided by May 1st. The earlier you enter the better chance you have to win (aka – the longer it’s there the more votes you can get).

Below are some images from a a couple of our After-Sessions….

Make Believe . Blog Carousel . Chattanooga Atlanta Destination Photographer

I invite you to view our blog carousel. It is an network of blogs belonging to some truly incredible photographers where we choose a monthly theme and all post based on that theme, it’s fantastic to see other amazing photographers interpretations. This month’s theme is “Make Believe”. Once you’ve read my blog post be sure to click on the photographer’s link I’ve posted to read theirs, you’ll be able to do the same on her blog and can keep going until you’ve come full circle.

The topic, “Make Believe” is something that, in my mind, instantly conjures up thoughts of childhood tea parties, playing dress up, imaginary friends, fairies, monsters under the bed… I think too many people grow out of “Make-Believing” and that it doesn’t have to be limited to childhood dreams. Artists still create things, worlds, paintings, stories, novels… everybody should. It can’t hurt to imagine and dream and push the limits of reality.  Think of how many incredible things would never have happened, been invented, been created if people just stopped make-believing as adults.

The images I am sharing are that of a small child in a make believe world, my own teenage daughter in a world I created, a fairytale family, and an incredible bride, who is also an incredible artist, a dreamer, a make-believer, who created a unicorn for her wedding.

Don’t grow out of make-believing – if you have – it’s not too late to go back and re-learn how to create something magical. I hope I never stop make-believing.

Anna-Karin - Just simply beautiful!!
Love all your images showcasing this months theme. I can only imagine how fun it must have been to photograph that wedding with so much thought and dreams put into it. So fun to see that not all weddings are stereotypical and that some still dream and like to play make believe!

Kim - Wow – beautiful work! Ditto Anna-Karin about the wedding image. What a dream that must have been to shoot and create!

Julie - These are stunning Melody! I love them all and how perfectly they each celebrate “make believe”

Dena Robles - These photographs are so incredibly beautiful Melody. I think one of my favorite things about being an artist is having the license to make-believe whenever I want to, even as an adult 🙂

Corey Sewell - Absolutely stunning work, Melody! Love your interpretations this month!

Matt & Hillary’s Jekyll Island Wedding . Destination Wedding Photographer

In the past year I think I’ve photographed more destination or out of town weddings than I have photographed weddings at home. I love them. I love the challenge of a new location, the change of scenery.
Matt & Hillary are from Chattanooga. They decided to get married on Driftwood Beach in Jekyll Island, GA. Why? Because it’s beautiful. Because the friends and family who love them most would make the trip. Because Hillary wanted the most amazing wedding photos in the world.

You couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to get married. The weather was perfect, the temperature was perfect, the location was perfect. Because of their jobs and the jobs of most of their friends Matt & Hillary chose to get married on a Monday. We were the only people on the beach. No tourists, no crowds, no onlookers, no random old guys in speedos walking behind them as they’re sharing their first kiss (hey, it’s happened before).

Hillary spent a LOT of time planning every detail of her wedding. She had her dress handmade. She had the bridesmaids dresses handmade. She researched hair & makeup artists until she found the perfect ones for her. She scouted the beach to find the perfect spot for their wedding ceremony. She hired a company to bring in chairs for the guests. She hired a Trolley to ferry guests from the hotel to the ceremony because there wasn’t much parking. She scoured the internet for the perfect mansion to rent on St. Simmons Island for the family and wedding party to stay at with the perfect rooftop for their wedding reception. It was the perfect, intimate, amazing wedding of her dreams.

Pocket Wizard Video + Hillary’s Bridal Session outside of Las Vegas . Destination Wedding Photographer

Hillary’s bridal session was quite unlike any other bridal session well, ever… Hillary is a photographer herself and had booked me to photograph her wedding on Jekyll Island. She was also planning to attend WPPI (the worlds largest Wedding and Portrait Photography Seminar) in Las Vegas just a month before her wedding. I speak and teach a class on lighting at WPPI so I was scheduled to be there as well. When she asked if we could do her bridal session in the desert there I thought it was a brilliant idea. She would have three vastly different looks in her photos – her rainy day engagement session in Downtown Chattanooga, a bridal session in the gorgeous Arizona/Nevada desert, and finally her wedding and Day-After session at Driftwood Beach in Jekyll Island, GA. Sounds pretty amazing to me!

In an interesting twist of events one of my sponsors, Pocket Wizard (you can see my profile on their Inspirational Photographers page here: http://www.pocketwizard.com/inspirations/profiles/) contacted me and asked if I would do a video for their new lighting triggers, the Pocket Wizard Plus III, that were debuting at WPPI while I was in Las Vegas speaking. I discussed it with Hillary and with the amazing gang at Pocket Wizard and we decided to film Hillary’s bridal session for the promo video.

Pocket Wizard paired me up with the incredibly talented Mark Wallace and Matt Hill and we headed to the desert to photograph Hillary’s Bridal session and to shoot the promo video for Pocket Wizard. My incredible boyfriend, Kevin, was amazing enough to drive us all out there in a rented Tahoe and be my lighting assistant for the day. Andrea Joki joined us and took the “behind the scenes” photos. It was an amazing adventure for all of us! Here you’ll get to see not only Hillary’s gorgeous bridal session but also behind the scenes photos of the shoot itself and the resulting video.

Chandra & Aaron’s Nighttime Engagement Session . Chattanooga Wedding Photographer

Chandra and Aaron are amazing. They’ve been together so long that I doubt they remember a time when they weren’t together, they even went to prom together, yet they act like they just fell in love yesterday. Seeing them together makes me incredibly happy because you can tell they just fit, that they were made for each other. Aaron is a United States Air Force Pilot. He was deployed not long after we photographed their engagement session and I know Chandra has to miss him like mad, make sure to keep his safe return in your thoughts and prayers – our soldiers sacrifice so much for us. I enjoyed incorporating some of his Air Force career in to their downtown engagement session, which we photographed mostly at nighttime. We started out at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, stopped by a field downtown, went over by the Tivoli, and ended up on a rooftop.

These two lovebirds are amazing and I am thankful for the friendship we’ve developed and am so looking forward to their wedding in October at The Grandview on Lookout Mountain.

Anna & Sam’s Gorgeous Wedding . Chattanooga Wedding Photographer

Anna and Sam celebrated their one year anniversary recently. Instead of rambling on about the fact that I am super incredibly crazily behind on blogging, I will, instead, tell you (and show you) an incredible love story.

Sam told me that he fell in love with Anna pretty much the first time he laid eyes on her. Anna didn’t fall in love quite so quickly but when she fell, she fell hard. You can see their love in the way they look at each other, the way they touch each other, the way they laugh at jokes that only they understand. The look on Sam’s face when he saw Anna for the first time that day at Stone Fort Inn isn’t something I will ever forget. You can see the emotion in the photos of their ceremony at Patten Chapel where their families spoke about who they are as people, who they are together, and their relationship with God. You can see the way they love their family and their friends by the laughter and the tears shed at their Lindsay Street Hall reception where many heartfelt speeches and toasts were given.

I could write about Anna and Sam and how beautiful they are individually for hours. But I hope the photos will show you how beautiful and wonderful they are together, how much they love each other, and how much they are loved.
