When Courtney called me from Hawaii to inquire about photography for her Destination Wedding in Chattanooga, Tennessee my first thought was, “You live in Hawaii and you’re getting married HERE?”. The disbelief grew even more so once she informed me that they were moving to Italy the week following their wedding, immediately after their honeymoon. Once I actually met David and Courtney a few days prior to their wedding - I understood it completely. Their wedding was perfectly suited for Chattanooga and fit even more perfectly at our gorgeous and amazing Fairyland Club on Lookout Mountain.
Courtney and David are amazing together. David in an officer in the United States Navy (I LOVE Military weddings!) and Courtney was Director of Marketing for Whole Foods before they relocated to Naples, Italy following their beautiful wedding. David was deployed much of the time they were engaged which left Courtney’s crafty self in Hawaii making the most amazing things for their wedding. Most of the details you’ll see in the photos were Courtney’s creations. She created speckled bird eggs with each guests name on the egg that rested in a tiny little nest as a place card for each and every guest. Each table was named after a different bird. Blue fabric covered boards held miniature vintage style postcards draped on a tiny clothesline held by itty bitty clothes pins in the lobby area so that each guest could find their name and seating arrangement. The table linens were hand made by Courtney’s aunts. In Hawaiian tradition 1,001 origami cranes (also handmade by Courtney) were strung across the ballroom windows inside the Fairyland Club. A cake-like tower was built and painted to hold the gorgeously decorated bluebird cupcakes which were made and brought in by Whole Foods (we don’t have one here in Chattanooga). The guestbook was, appropriately, a book filled with bird illustrations. For their exit Courtney had tied about a bazillion blue and white ribbons to silver painted dowels and mixed them with Union Jack flags (to represent London, England, their honeymoon destination). Courtney’s going-away dress was made from her Mother’s original wedding dress (genius idea!) and David wore a dashing seersucker suit like a nice Carolina boy should!
A Celtic band played the most beautiful music as David and Courtney’s guests were seated. A bagpiper escorted the beautiful bride and her father down the aisle at exactly noon on a day when we had some of the craziest weather I’ve ever seen. Storm clouds rolled in and out again, the sun came out shining brightly through the trees at about 11:30am - just in time for Courtney & David’s ceremony. In Naval tradition they entered the ballroom with the Arch of Swords. The cake was cut with David’s sword. There were no details or tradition overlooked and absolutely no lack of creativity poured in to this wedding. I could blog a thousand photos - but somehow narrowed it down to about fifty, haha!
After-wedding photos were taken at the Chattanooga Sheraton Read House. Gorgeous flowers were designed by Humphrey’s. Tammy at the Fairyland club was amazing, as always.
Courtney & David - you’re amazing, wonderful, beautiful people and you couldn’t be more perfect for each other. Thank you for trusting me to capture the most special memories of you, your family, and your closest friends on your wedding day. Someday (hopefully soon!) I’ll come visit you guys in Italy!

What an amazing love story…
Tom is one of those incredible compounding Pharmacists who actually create drugs, mixing the components himself. As owner of Solutions Pharmacy he hired this really lovely woman to work for him a few years ago - her name is Bethany. Bethany is gorgeous, kind, loving, nurturing, sweet, genuine, witty, sarcastic, and she’s one of those people who can light up your day with one sentence. How could Tom not just fall head over heels in love with her? And how could she not be drawn to his kind, gentle, and brilliant personality? They’re perfectly matched.
After a year or more of planning their beautiful, intimate ceremony at The Grandview on Lookout Mountain their perfect wedding almost didn’t happen. Tom and his groomsmen went to Amsterdam for Toms bachelor party and were unable to leave because of airline closings due to the volcanic ash from Iceland. Incredibly they were able to get a flight and make it home just in time. The outdoor ceremony and reception were nearly moved indoors because of the 80% chance of thunderstorms (and the staff of Blissful Moments and Grandview did a phenomenal job planning and setting up just in case). It rained once, all day, for about 30 seconds. A vase of flowers stood in the place of Tom’s father, his best man, who sadly passed away before the wedding. We decided that the 30 second burst of rain, right as we were posing the family formals - was his way of letting us know he was there.
Thankfully, the wedding did happen and it happened perfectly. Few weddings go quite so well. All the guests and family were wonderful and had an amazing evening celebrating the marriage of Bethany and Tom. We ended the evening at Stone Fort Inn where the couple stayed the night before heading off to spend their two week honeymoon on a private island in Fiji.
A mix of photojournalism and Fine Art images is what you’ll see here… the real moments and the art that tells their love story. One of my favorite images was captured by Cristie - where Bethany is loving watching as Tom dances with his mother -gorgeous! Definitely more Fine Art images than we normally show - but they suit the day, the couple, and the moments.

Chris and Audrey are one of my favorite couples ever. I photographed their engagement session in 2008, their wedding in 2009, and just photographed their first anniversary session. Hopefully I’ll see them again next year - it’s amazing to spend time with them and to watch them so in love together.
I just realized that I never blogged their wedding (I have a ton of weddings I haven’t blogged from last year) so I’m going to try to blog it soon!
Audrey is an absolute sweetheart and a fantastic stylist at Studio 59. Chris is just a rockstar. They had a beautiful wedding at Audrey’s parents gorgeous house in North Georgia.
You’ll love them - you won’t be able to help loving them…

Last year one of my most favorite wedding coordinators in the world, Cheryl Hyland of Blissful Moments, called me in to meet with Buffy and Tom about photographing their wedding. I instantly adored them. After talking to them for about an hour we realized that Buffy was actually one of my little sisters best friends in elementary school. I can remember her being just a scrawny little thing who, along with my sister, set out to terrorize me during their weekend slumber parties. She’s definitely grown up and, while she’s definitely still tiny (can we please bottle her metabolism?) she’s no longer that scrawny little kid and, hopefully, won’t try to terrorize me anymore
I very much enjoyed getting to know Tom and getting to know the grown-up Buffy while photographing their engagement session at the Old Woolen Mill in Cleveland, TN last fall (yes, I really am *that* behind on blogging). Here are some photos from their engagement session and a few from their wedding this past Saturday at The Grandview on Lookout Mountain and Stone Fort Inn in downtown Chattanooga. Check out the amazing 1955 Chevy Bel Air rented from Brandon Burns - it’s an absolutely amazing car.

Anna and Michael had a beautiful wedding at First Presbyterian Church in Downtown, Chattanooga followed by a gorgeous reception at one of my favorite venues, the Lookout Mountain Fairyland Club. The ceremony was sweet, loving, and special. Ben Hayden performed part of the ceremony. It may seem silly but I was actually a little bit starstruck since I grew up watching him on television every weekend with my grandparents.
Anna and Michael have beautiful, wonderful families and I felt truly blessed to be able to share such a special day with them. It’s always wonderful to be around people who are truly happy and truly excited about such an amazing occasion.
Anna began her day with fabulous hair and makeup at Hair a Go Go in North Chattanooga. Laura’s Garden provided the beautiful floral arrangements on the tables, the cake and the bouquets. Tammy at the Fairyland Club did an outstanding job as always. The band rocked the night away - it was an amazing day.
Much love to you both, Anna and Michael!

Anna is a beautiful person. Anna’s a special person. I can’t begin to tell you how many life lessons I learned from the time I spent with Anna. In many ways we’re a lot alike, both artists, both indecisive, both passionate about life and love… but there’s something about Anna that I wish I could bottle up and use for myself sometimes - her strength, her will, her incredibly optimistic outlook on life. When Anna first contacted me about photographing her wedding she couldn’t meet with me right away because she’d just had a bone marrow transplant. Her second or third bone marrow transplant if I remember correctly. So Anna booked me online and we met later. When I met Anna and Michael I adored them, I remembered her mentioning the transplant but meeting Anna, looking at Anna, talking to Anna, you’d never guess she’d ever been sick a day in her life. Anna doesn’t know it but she taught me more than I ever could have given her in return, she taught me that life goes on - no matter what’s happened in the past you just take each day at a time, take each day and love it, cherish it, make the very best of it, and don’t worry so much about tomorrow. I tend to be a worrier - an extreme worrier - so I don’t always remember that lesson - but every time I see a photo of Anna I see strength, I see joy, I see life being lived to its fullest. And I smile. And I remember to not worry so much. (And, yes, I know you’re not supposed to start a sentence with the word “And” but it’s my blog and I like it.)
Anna - thank you for being beautiful, wonderful, and for sharing so much with me. Thank you for giving me hope, sharing your story, giving me an amazing glimpse at your life and the love you share with Michael and with your family. You’re all beautiful and amazing people who I’ll never forget.
Here are a few images from Anna’s bridal session at the Fairyland Club.

I love Shannan and Jeremy, they’re one of those couples that compliment each other perfectly, who can communicate with each other without speaking, who finish each others sentences, and who love each other truly, for who they are. Both very outgoing, fun-loving people their wedding was an amazing gathering of friends and family and their reception was one hell of a party.
The day was just amazing. Trinity Pearson coordinated and made the day flow perfectly. The wedding was beautiful, the weather was perfection, the reception at Loose Cannon was perfectly decorated and the incredible food from Connoisseur Catering was perfectly presented and incredibly delicious. Soundforce, as always, did an absolutely incredible job keeping the party going!
I enjoyed seeing how happy Shannan and Jeremy were all day. Their smiles never left their faces, they didn’t stress over the little things, they just enjoyed themselves and their friends and family being there. You can see from the photos how much fun they had - Shannan looked incredible - she’s especially beautiful when she laughs. I think this was the first wedding where I saw the “Shoe Game” played - it was hysterical! Shannan and Jeremy took off their shoes, each got one of their own shoes and one of the other persons and the DJ asked questions like “Who will fall asleep first tonight?” and “Who is more likely to fake having a headache?” and, while Shannan and Jeremy sat back to back and couldn’t see each other, they would hold up the shoe of the person that the question fit. It was really very funny.
I also think my very favorite cake cutting photo ever is in this series of images - where Shannan is bent over digging cake out of her dress and Jeremy is standing there all innocently as though he didn’t just smear an entire piece of cake on his bride. Never fear though, as you’ll soon see - she paid him back quite well….
You two are amazing and I wish you long, happy, healthy life together!

There are so many kinds of love.
Fun love, happy love, deep love, crazy love, passionate love, silly love.
Looking through Macy & Brent’s wedding photos you can see all those kinds of love on their faces and on the faces of their family and friends. I had an amazing time photographing Macy & Brent’s wedding. Their wedding party was fun, laid back, and everybody was beautiful. The Read House is always a beautiful place for photos and one of our newer venues, Lindsay Street Hall in downtown Chattanooga is incredibly beautiful - and the people there are so amazing to work with. Amanda did an incredible job with the flowers as always, Cheryl and her team were incredible and coordinated everything perfectly. The band was fabulous, the food was wonderful, the guests were fun and friendly. Their families were absolutely wonderful to work with. It was even a little bit on the warm side for a December Wedding. Macy’s Dad should win some sort of award for “Best Reaction when Giving a Bride Away”, I love it! It was truly a perfect day!
Congratulations Macy & Brent! I hope you enjoyed your honeymoon and I hope you enjoy your sneak peek on the blog! I’ll have your gallery ready in a few days!

Casey’s a very special person. She’s one of those people who make you feel like you’re the most amazing person alive just by spending 5 minutes on the phone with her. She’s one of those people who puts other peoples needs before hers. She’s one of those people you want to be friends with for the rest of your life. She’s a survivor, she’s a fighter, she’s an incredibly strong and amazing woman. From what I can tell about Sam - he compliments her perfectly. He’s sweet, thoughtful, loving, and the way he looks at Casey is so filled with love. You can see the happiness on their faces in their photos - you can feel it. They fit together like they were made to go together. I’m thrilled that they found each other and I’m thrilled that I was able to photograph their wedding day. I also really enjoyed taking photos at the Doubletree in downtown Chattanooga after the wedding. We had so much fun!
Congrats, and so much love, to you both, I wish you a lifetime of health and happiness together!

Kim paid me the most amazing compliment a client could ever give - when she changed her wedding date to a date that I wasn’t booked already so that I could be her photographer. I’m so very glad that she did.
Kim and David are an amazing couple. Their wedding was filled with class, charm, gorgeous details, amazing people, and beauty. Kim is stunningly beautiful and David is quite handsome himself. They had the perfect sized wedding - small enough to be intimate but large enough to be interesting. The ceremony at Second Presbyterian Church was gorgeous as all ceremonies there are but still different thanks to their special touches. The reception at St. John’s Restaurant was incredible with a menu created just for them. There were soooo many choices and dinner was so incredible. Dessert was even better! The reception continued in to a room that I didn’t even know existed before that evening - it was the darkest room I’ve ever seen in my life! Thankfully I packed my strobes just in case and this was definitely a situation where they were needed! The room was decked out with infinity mirrors, amazing art on the walls, awesome light fixtures and a killer band playing.
Beautiful flowers are by Gil & Curt!
